Upper limb prosthesis is a project born with the aim to complete our prosthetic equipment during missions in developing country.
Development is possible thanks to the help of Universities (see link page) and many students of Engineering who decided to focalize them thesis on mechanical/electronic components of our prosthesis.
Now we are developing several prototypes in order to evaluate functionality, efficacy, cost and match our work with the possible environment in developing countries.
The studies, completed or in progress, analyze all the different components of the prosthesis :
- The hand : with simple clamp or with anthropomorphic finger, all components are tested with FEM analysis,
- Wrist, elbow and shoulder components are created in order to adapt the prosthesis with any kind of amputation level.
- Different kind of actuators are analyzed:
- Body powered
- Mckibben muscles
- Electrical motor
- Movement control :
- Mechanical control
- Myoelectric control of prostheses (see video below)
The wide range of option above is required not only in developing phase, in order to evaluate functionality, efficacy and cost, but also during our missions in developing country, where we need to adapt the prosthesis at any kind of amputation and any kind of enviroment.
